The story of our name change

Generations Church began in 1920 on the lawn of the Fort Worth Courthouse and our birth name was Fort Worth First Church of the Nazarene. Over our 100+ year history, we have moved several times due to outgrowing facilities in land-locked situations which is how we moved to Crowley, Texas in 1983.

In 2022, our leadership felt led to change our name from Fort Worth First, to something that spoke more to who our church is and where the Lord is taking us. The idea was brought to our board and then congregation, who then gave upward of 200 new name suggestions. A committee was formed and after prayer and two sessions, the names had been widdled down to one. The name was brought back to the congregation who then voted in favor for the name Generations Church.

We believe that "Generations" encompasses not only the mission and vision of new life and growth in our congregation, but also recognizes our roots and the many who supported our church in our 100+ year history.

"For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; Your faithfulness continues through all generations!" - Psalm 100:5

We believe "Generations" celebrates our heritage and also describes our ministry to all generations. We work hard to minister to all generations through all generations in the name of Jesus Christ.
